La semana pasada los alumnos del CSDMM presentamos nuestros primeros diseños en el Matadero de Madrid. Una pasarela que partió del retor como tejido protagonista para crear singulares formas, texturas y volúmenes mediante distintas tecnicas de confección e intervención.
Mi diseño fue un pantalón inspirado en el dhoti indio, adaptándolo a la mujer con un top asimétrico a juego. Además me tocó hacer de maestra de ceremonias y co-presentar el desfile, para lo que diseñé un vestido más divertido, rematado con el tocado en fieltro rojo.
Last week CSDMM students showed our first designs at Matadero Madrid. The fashion show had its origins in plain raw cotton as the core fabric, and we created curious shapes, textures and volumes through several making, stitching, sticking and piercing ways.
My design was a trouser inspired by Indian dhoti and adapted for women, with a matching top. Besides I had to introduce the show, for what I created a more amusing dress, topped with a red felt headdress.

El verano ha llegado definitivamente, y aunque soy la mayor fan del Lorenzo hay días en los que un paseo al sol no es la mejor idea. A veces hay que rendirse y parar un taxi, aunque estés en mitad de la nada.
Summer is finally here, and even for me, the biggest Sun fan, some days a walk in the Sun is not the best idea. Sometimes you have to face reality and stop a cab, even when you are in the middle of nowhere.
La mayoría conocéis la historia del lago de los cisnes… Un príncipe obligado por sus padres a elegir esposa, un amigo que lo lleva de caza para distraerlo, un lago lleno de cisnes condenados que por la noche vuelven a su forma humana, el príncipe que se enamora de la cisnesa blanca, el malvado que envía a su hija, la cisnesa negra, al baile y hace creer que es la cisnesa blanca hasta que el príncipe se compromete con ella, y el príncipe que al darse cuenta del error vuelve al lago a pedir perdón, pero como toda buena historia romántica acaba con la muerte de los enamorados.
Hoy los tiempos son algo distintos, las cisnesas han cambiado el tutú y las puntas por jeans y Converse, no hay malvados que hechicen a nadie, solo nuevas IT que se meten por medio en las relaciones, los príncipes ya no juran amor eterno, ahora cazan a sus amigos, y ellas no se quitan la vida por amor, lo superan a base de chocolate.
Most of you already know Swan Lake story… A prince forced by his mother to chose a wife, a friend who takes him hunting to distract him, a lake full of swans under a spell and going back to human form at night, the prince falls in love with the white swan, the bad guy who sends his daughter, the black swan, to the ball and makes everyone believe she is the white one until the prince announces he’ll marriage her, and the prince that after realizing his mistake goes back to the lake to apology, but as in every good romantic history the lovers end up dead.
Nowadays the story is different, swans have changed tutus and pointe shoes for jeans and Converse, there is no evil sorcerer enchanting anyone, only new IT that get in the middle of relationships, princes don’t swear eternal love, now they hunt their boyfriends, and the girls don’t stop living for love, they get over it with lots of chocolates.

Mientras William y Kate daban el sí quiero nuestro professor nos propuso hacer un tocado inspirado en Philip Treacy y las bodas reales.
El mío es de fieltro verde y naranja y me sirvió para comprender por qué los sombrereros siempre han tenido fama de estar un poco chiflados, resulta que los productos químicos que utilizan para dar forma a sus fantásticas ideas desprenden vapores que les afectan un poco. La formula mágica utilizada para dar cuerpo al fieltro de mi tocado es 100gr de polyvinyl pyrrolidone para un litro de alcohol… vamos, que con el colocón que me pillé es fácil ser creativa!
While William and Kate were getting married our professor asked us to make a headdress inspired by Philip Treacy and royal weddings.
Mine is made out of orange and green felt, and made me realize why hatters are supposed to be a little bit nuts. It turns out that the chemical products used to give form to brilliant ideas give off some toxic steam. The magic formula I used for the felt is 100gr of polyvinyl pyrrolidone mixed in 1l of alcohol… of course I was a little high, so all the creativity flew and this is the output.
Las faldas largas son una de mis prendas favoritas, quizás por ese toque de princesa que nos hacen sentir… Hoy he decidido aprovechar el buen tiempo y lucir colores… será que es primavera!
Long skirts are one of my favorite garments, maybe thanks to that princess touch we feel wearing one… Today I’ve decided to enjoy Spring in Technicolor!
Hace un par de meses me encargaron parte del vestuario para el musical de Hércules, y la verdad es que me tocó hacer la parte bonita; los vestidos de Meg y las Musas.

El Verano está tardando en llegar y, aunque ya hace sol, las mañanas siguen siendo fresquitas. Yo disfruto de esta primavera tardía con jeans y una chaqueta de piqué con un corte retro.
Summer is not really here yet and, even though it’s sunny, mornings are still fresh. I enjoy this late spring in jeans and a retro jacket.
