Las hay con suerte, y yo soy una de ellas! Carlos y yo estuvimos en Gerona cenando en El Celler de Can Roca justo antes de que cerrasen por vacaciones, gracias por hacernos un huequito! Cuando vas a cenar en uno de los mejores restaurantes del mundo las expectativas son altísimas, y la verdad es que la experiencia fue maravillosa. El local es moderno y elegante, el servicio encantador, la comida fantástica y los postres para perder la cabeza. Yo me quedo con los detalles; Joan Roca recibiéndonos a la entrada con una sonrisa, la camarera lanzándose a colgar mi bolso antes de que rozase el suelo, la comida de Carlos cortadita para que la pudiese comer bien (tiene un brazo escayolado), el baño equipado con todo lo que una chica pueda necesitar, y los hermanos Roca despidiéndonos al salir. Empezamos?
I've always been lucky! Lucky enough to have dinner in Girona at El Celler de Can Roca just before they closed for summer vacation, thanks for having us! When you go to one of the best restaurants in the World your expectations are pretty high, and the experience there was really wonderful. The place is modern and smart, the service is charming, the food fantastic and desserts out of this World. Details make the difference: Joan Roca welcoming us with a smile at the entrance, the waitress hanging my bag before I touched the floor, Carlos food cut in pieces so he could eat with an arm in a cast, all needed amenities in the ladies room, and the three Roca brothers saying goodbye when we left. Entrar en un obrador de helados es de las cosas más apetecibles, y entrar en el obrador de Angelo Corvitto es similar a que Willy Wonka te invite a su fábrica de chocolate! Angelo nació en Italia y tras décadas haciendo helados artesanos en Torroella de Montgrí (Girona) hoy es el mejor heladero del mundo. A mí el frío no me va mucho, pero por un buen helado hago lo que sea! Entramos?
Entering an ice cream factory is one of the yummiest things I've ever done, and entering Angelo Corvitto's workroom feels like being invited by Willy Wonka to his chocolate factory! Angelo was born in Italy and, after decades making ice creams in Torroella de Montgrí (Girona, Spain), he is recognized as the best ice cream artisan in the world. I don't like cold temperatures too much, but nothing can make me stay away from a good ice cream! Let's go inside!

Púbol es un minúsculo pueblo del Empordá, pero con mucha fama gracias a su castillo, reformado por Dalí. Fue un regalo para Gala, su esposa, y aquí pasaron sus últimos días, pero no al mismo tiempo. El Castillo se puede vivistar como casa/museo, está lleno de curiosidades como los elefantes del jardín, la fuente con cabezas de Wagner, los coches de Gala, un ajedrez en forma de dedos y la fantástica colección de vestidos de Alta Costura de la mujer del artista. Pasen y vean!
Pubol is a ridiculously small town in the Empordá, but well known for its castle, rebuilt by Dalí. It was a present for Gala, his wife, where they spent their last days, but not at the same time. You can visit the house-museum filled with endless pieces of art: elephant sculptures in the garden, a fountain with Wagner heads, Gala's cars, a finger-shaped chess game and the wonderful Couture dresses collection, all worn by the artist's wife. Cadaqués es uno de los pueblos pesqueros con más encanto del Empordá, y famoso por haber atraído a artistas como Picasso, Duchamp, Lorca y, por supuesto, Dalí, cuya casa-museo se encuentra en la cala de Port Lligat. Es un lugar perfecto para una excursión en barco desde cualquier punto de la Costa Brava.
Cadaqués is a charming fishermen village at the Empordá, famous thanks to artists such as Picasso, Duchamp, Lorca and, of course, Dalí, who has his house-museum at Port Lligat. It's the perfect place for a day excursion if you are sailing the Costa Brava.
Las empinadas callejuelas del pueblo, encaladas en blanco, con ventanas pintadas en azul y buganvillas trepando por las fachadas son una delicia. Las terrazas de la bahía el lugar ideal para tomar algo y observar el ajetreo de la plaza con su mercadillo, las barcas saliendo del puerto saliendo a pescar y los locales que van a las playas con sus alpargatas y sus capazos.
The white up-and-down narrow streets are splashed with blue windows and colorful bougainvilleas climb up the walls. The terraces by the bay are the perfect spot to have a drink while you observe the hustle and bustle of the plaza market, the small boats going fishing and the locals walking to the beach wearing espadrilles and carrying their towels in straw baskets.
