Buenos días! Hoy os traigo el último capítulo de mi viaje a Nueva Orleans. Comenzamos el día paseando tranquilamente por el parque Audubon, seguimos descubriendo curiosas tiendas de Royal Street y terminamos con la mejor experiencia de Jazz y la locura de Bourbon Street. Os venís?
Good morning! This is the last chapter of my trip to New Orleans. We start the day walking on the quiet Audubon Park, then we discover the unique shops at Royal Street and we end enjoying quite an amazing Jazz performance and partying at Bourbon Street. Who is coming with me?
Comienza el día en Audubon Park, este enorme parque tiene un sinfín de rincones, flora y fauna. Perfecto para una mañana tranquila.
Start the day at Audubon Park, this huge place has many interesting plants and animals all over it, perfect for a relaxing morning.
Recorre Royal Street, tanto si buscas algún souvenir como si solo quieres mirar escaparates, pero ve sin prisa. Yo recorrí toda el tramo de calle que queda dentro del barrio francés, entrando a curiosear y hablando con gente encantadora a cargo de cada tienda.
Walk Royal Street, it doesn't matter if you are looking for a souvenir or just window shopping, but take it easy. I walked the street inside the French Quarter, entering each charming shop and talking to very interesting people.
Hay muchos anticuarios que venden mobiliario, lámparas, vajillas... todo de estilo europeo para conservar el espíritu francés.
There are lots of antiques shops selling furniture, lamps, china... everything from Europe to keep the French vibes.
En esta calle también hay varias galerías de arte, unas más bohemias y otras más comerciales, pero todas muy alegres.
A few art galleries are also located here, some more bohemian and some more mainstream, but all of them are really bright.
Los souvenirs típicos como el praliné, el tabasco, camisetas y máscaras de Mardi Gras también ocupan algún que otro local.
Of course you can also find the typical pralines, hot sauces, t-shirts and Mardi Gras masks in many stores.
Si prefieres los vestidos a las lámparas, no puedes perderte la tienda vintage de Bambi DeVille, una casa antigua donde cada habitación es una colección de prendas y accesorios de lo más variopintos!
If you like dresses better than lamps, you have to visit Bambi DeVille vintage shop, an old house where every room displays a collection of unique garments and accessories!
Si prefieres un sombrero nuevo déjate llevar en Goorin Bros, una sombrerería de calidad con unos dependientes encantadores.
And if you are a hat lover, try some really fancy ones at Goorin Bros, a wonderful place with good pieces and kind sellers.
La tienda The Brass Monkey es un pequeño lugar abarrotado de cajitas de Limoges, bombones y dulces locales. Te dan ganas de quedarte a tomar el té con la encantadora señora que está a cargo y no salir de allí nunca.
The Brass Monkey is a small place with hundreds of Limoges pillboxes and chocolates. You will feel like staying for tea with its lovely shopkeeper.
En Forever New Orleans hay souvenirs con mucho estilo. Hay varias tiendas repartidas por la calle y en casi todas tienen productos relacionados con las ostras, que en Louisiana son muy típicas.
At Forever New Orleans they have stylish souvenirs. There are several shops along the street and most of them have great things related to oysters, which are very typical in Louisiana.
Otro de esos sitios encantadores es la perfumería Bourbon French Parfums, donde preparan cada frasco de manera artesanal y personalizada.
Another charming place is Bourbon French Parfums, where they prepare each bottle in an artisanal and customised way.
Y si entre todo esto no has encontrado nada que te llame la atención, entra en Cajun Ornaments, una tienda a medio camino entre la Navidad, Carnaval y el desfile del Orgullo, con adornos divertidos y algo extravagantes!
And if you still haven't found anything interesting, drop by at Cajun Ornaments, somehow between Christmas, Carnival and the Pride Parade, with extravagant and funny ornaments!
Según haya quedado tu economía después de recorrer esta calle, puedes pasarte por el Casino. Yo no soy muy fan de jugarme los billetes, pero es una experiencia curiosa!
Check your account after visiting that street, you may want, or not, to try your luck at the Casino. I'm not really into gambling, but I always like to try new experiences!
Y llegamos a mi parte favorita del día, y creo que de todo el viaje! El Preservation Hall es algo que no te puedes perder. Si Nueva Orleans es la ciudad donde se originó el Jazz, aquí es donde mantienen esos orígenes. Un diminuto local en el que tocan y cantan con una pasión contagiosa. Hay que hacer cola en la calle un rato antes y pagar bien la entrada, pero esta experiencia hay que vivirla. Te traes tu cerveza de la calle, te olvidas de la cámara y el teléfono y te dejas llevar por la música!
And we come to my favourite part of the day, and probably of the trip! Preservation Hall is a must. If Jazz was born in this city, this is where they keep it alive. A very small venue where they play and sing with an amazing passion. You have to wait in line outside before the show, and pay some dollars for to get in, but this is totally worth it. You just have to bring your own beer, forget about your phone and camera, and enjoy the show!
Y para rematar adéntrate en Bourbon Street, un sitio que es una fiesta continua. Las luces, la música, el alcohol y la comida rápida nunca se terminan!
And to top it all, finish the day at Bourbon Street, a never ending party. Lights, music, alcohol, fast food... there is always more one step away!
