Otranto es el plan perfecto de una tarde de verano. La pequeña ciudad lo tiene todo; mar, vistas, un castillo, una catedral, un casco histórico amurallado, terrazas para tomar mojitos, pizzerias que huelen al paraíso, puestos callejeros de crepes, bailarines de pizzica... Muy muy muy recomendado!
Otranto is the perfect plan for a summer evening. The small city has it all; the sea, the views, a castle, a cathedral, a walled old part, rooftops with mojito bars, pizzerias that smell like paradise, crepes stalls, pizzica dancers... Highly recommended!
El amarillo yema es ese gran color que todos los diseñadores han querido poner de moda alguna vez, sin éxito. Y es que, a quién le queda bien además de a Lupita Nyong'o??? O lo que es lo mismo, cuándo me pongo yo un jersey color yema? Pues hoy, porque para lucirlo hay que estar morena, y el único momento en que te puedes poner un jersey sin estar pálida como la pared es a finales de septiembre, por lo menos en Madrid! Egg yolk is that great color-of-the-season wannabe. Some seasons it's canary yellow and some others is a mustard hue, but you know what I mean. Who can look good in such color, apart from Lupita Nyong'o??? And what I'm really asking is, when am I gonna wear an egg yolk sweater? Well, I guess today is the day! Gallipoli es la Ibiza de Italia y el centro fiestero del Salento. El casco antiguo está en una pequeña península presidida por una fortaleza con vistas a las aguas cristalinas del mar Jónico. Por el día las playas están muy masificadas, pero el ambiente en las calles por la noche es digno de ver.
Gallipoli is the italian Ibiza and the party center of Salento. The old part of the city is a small peninsula with a fort overlooking the Ionian sea. The beaches are overcrowded during the day, but the atmosphere at night is something interesting.
Hoy os quiero enseñar este look de hace unas semanas (cuando aun tenía el pelo largo!), porque tanto la falda como la cazadora me las estoy poniendo muchísimo estos días, aunque por separado. Aquí hago remix oriente-occidente para estas tardes que refresca para aun queda algo de espíritu veraniego. Today I wanna show you this look from August (when I still had long hair), because nowadays I'm wearing both the skirt and the jacket a lot, but separately. Here I'm mixing an East-West outfit for those evenings when it starts to get cold, but there's still a summer vibe. You already saw the jacket in a total white outfit, and the skirt was a express design I made in Mumbai on a monsoon afternoon last year. I wish I drop by Tirumala that easily nowadays... Altamura fue mi hogar durante el mes de Agosto gracias a mi buena amiga Rosella quien, junto a Paolo, me invitó a pasar las vacaciones allí y me enseñó esta preciosa parte de Italia, bastante desconocida hasta ahora! La ciudad tiene un centro histórico de lo más ecléctico y amplio, rodeado por la muralla que le da nombre. Es un laberinto de callejones que rodea la catedral con construcciones de distintas épocas, estilos y religiones, ideal para perderse y descubrir sus claustros; pequeñas placitas/patios donde los vecinos aun salen a tomar el fresco y regar las plantas.
Altamura was my home last august thanks to my good friend Rosella who, with Paolo, invited me over to spend my holidays and discover this unknown part of Italy. The city has an eclectic old part, surrounded by the walls that give name to it. It's a labyrinth of narrow streets around the cathedral, with buildings from different times, styles and religions, perfect to wander and end up in any claustro; small squares/patios where neighbors chitchat and water the plants.
Los culottes son los pantalones de la temporada! Cómo llevarlos? Pues como más rabia os dé, porque lo más probable es que todo el mundo se fije en los pantalones y nadie se percate del resto del modelito, a no ser que os pongáis el mantel del picnic a modo de top, que entonces todo lo demás pasa a un segundo plano ;) Yo sigo empeñada en estirar el verano, así que he optado por la cintura medio descubierta y zapatos de paja, pero supongo que cuando refresque me los pondré con un jersey calentito y unos botines. Y vosotras? Os gustan o los odiáis???
Culottes are the pant of the season! How to wear them? That's your choice, everybody will stare at the pants anyways, unless you match them with a picnic cloth worn on top, picnic checks make anything else irrelevant, trust me ;) I'm determined to make summer last as long as possible, so I've matched them with a cropped top and straw shoes, but I guess I'll opt for a sweater and booties for colder days. Ostuni es un pueblo blanco italiano, a unos 10km del Adriático. Se puede visitar en una mañana pero no da para mucho más... al estar en una colina tiene muy buenas vistas a los campos de olivas y al mar, el lugar perfecto para un bañito después del paseo.
Ostuni is an italian white village, 10km away from the coast. A morning there is enough to visit the town, that has a privileged spot overlooking the olives fields and the Adriatic sea, which is the perfect place for a swim after walking all over the streets.
Buenos días! Llevo meses viendo a un montón de gente con tatuajes (calcomanías) dorados y plateados. Desde tribales hasta mandalas, pasando por "love", flechitas del amor y demás "best-friends-forevers"... Yo es que de mi abuelo Pepe heredé la fascinación por el pan de oro, y de mi tía Miriam aprendí a no subestimar el poder de las pinturas metalizadas! Y la verdad es que me parece una tontería pagar por algo así cuando yo tengo siempre pintura dorada encima de la mesa. Good morning! I've been observing people with golden and silver tatoos (known as beauty marks). From tribals to mandals, "love", love arrows, best-friends-forevers, and such stuff... I have to admit I'm usually into golden things more than I would like to... but obviously I'm not paying for something so silly when I have lots of golden paint on my desk. So today's DIY is kind of silly but also cute, and I get to show off my white super expensive manicure (kidding, I homemade it with Tipp-ex XD) Have a good weekend and tattoo your skin à volonté, it'll all be gone by monday!

Bari es la capital de Puglia y cuenta con un puerto, un castillo, una básilica y muchas cosas más. Pero a mí lo que más me sorprendió es que, a pesar de ser una ciudad grande, en el fondo es muy pueblo! En cuanto callejéas un poco empiezas a desubrir la italia profunda, con señoras que sacan media cocina a la calle para hacer pasta casera, los famosos orecchiette, charlan con las vecinas en bata y tienden la ropa en tendederos que plantan en mitad de la calle. Además en muchos recovecos hay montados altares callejeros a vírgenes y santos, aunque el protagonista religioso de la ciudad es San Nicolás (sí, en quien se basa Papá Noel!), cuyos restos reposan en la cripta de la Basílica, que es lugar de peregrinación sobre todo para cristianos ortodoxos.
Bari is Puglia's capital, and it has a port, a castle, a basilica and many other sights. But what really surprised me here was the small town lifestyle, even when it's a big city! If you enter the narrow streets you can observe local women who set an improvised kitchen outside their houses and make fresh pasta, the famous orecchiette, they chitchat with their neighbors in their sleeping robes and hang their laundry on the street. Moreover, you can find street altars in many corners, dedicated to virgins and saint, but the main religious character here is Saint Nicholas (the saint behind Santa Claus legend), whose remains rest in the crypt at the basilica, a pilgrimage place specially for orthodox christians.

Trani es conocida como "la perla del sur" de Italia. Es una ciudad dónde el puerto es el protagonista y la catedral normanda parece estar flotando sobre el Adriático. Yo la visité por la tarde-noche y disfruté de una cena espectacular en un lugar surrealista, con las mejores vistas del puerto. Os podéis imaginar cenar en la azotea de una casa construida en una iglesia templaria??? Resulta que hace años la Iglesia de Ognissanti vendió un trozo a la familia de mis anfitriones, que constuyeron su original casa aprovechando parte de los muros templarios, así que básicamente su ducha es un absidiolo! Aprovecho para agradecerles la invitación a este lugar privilegiado.
Trani is known as "the pearl of the south" of Italy. It's a port city dominated by the Norman cathedral, which looks like it's floating on the Adriatic sea. I visited it in the evening and enjoyed a spectacular dinner in a surreal location with an amazing view of the port. Can you imagine having dinner at the rooftop of a house built in a Templar church??? Many years back, part of the Chiesa di Ognissanti was sold to my hosts family, who have built their original house sharing walls with the church, so basically they shower in an apse! I really thank them for the invitation to this extraordinary place.
El lino es uno de mis tejidos favoritos para el verano, es fresquito y aporta ese toque de comodidad desenfadada a cualquier prenda. Esta camisa fue mi flechazo de febrero y en verano me hice con ella, la verdad es que la estoy usando muchísimo, tanto para el día con jeans como para la tarde con unos tacones, y hasta para bajar a la playa con un sombrero de paja y el bikini debajo. Hoy le doy un toque de color con los accessorios en rojo; el bolso es de esas cosas que tienes en el armario desde hace años y de repente te da por usarla a diario, y las gafas son uno de los nuevos modelos de Firmoo.com, con quien colaboro una vez más porque estoy encantada con la calidad que dan a tan buen precio! Linen is one of my favorite fabrics for summer season, it's fresh and gives that casual comfy touch to any item. I fell in love with this shirt back in february and got it in summer, and I actually wearing it a lot, with jeans in the morning and heels in the evening, and even with a straw hat to the beach. Today I'm adding a pop of color with red accessories, including my new glasses from Firmoo.com, with whom I'm collaborating once again cause I really like the quality of their glasses at an amazing price! La arquitectura de este pueblo es tan original como su historia. Resulta que en la Edad Media las poblaciones tenían que pagar un tributo al Reino de Nápoles, y cuando esta zona se empezó a llenar de campesinos, los condes que dominaban las tierras les dejaron establecerse allí a condición de construir viviendas que se pudiesen demoler facilmente en el caso de una inspección por parte de Nápoles. Así surgieron los "trulli", pequeñas casas construidas en piedra, sin cemento, con un ingenioso tejado-cúpula en forma de cono, decoradas con intrigantes símbolos. Y así es como nació el fraude fiscal!
Architecture in this town is as original as the story behind it. Settlements in this area had to pay a tribute to Naples Kingdom during the Medieval era, and when farmers started coming here, the counts ruling this land let them stay under one condition; they had to build easy-destroyable houses so they won't get caught in case of an inspection by the Kingdom. This is how "trullis" were born, small stone houses, built without cement, with an ingenious cone-shaped dome/roof, decorated with curious symbols. And this is how tax evasion started!
Adoro comprar cosas especiales cuando viajo. No soy de las que vuelve cargada de souvenirs típicos que luego no sabes dónde meter, pero me encanta perderme en bazares locales y mercadillos vintage y encontrar pequeños tesoros que acaben en un lugar preferente de mi armario. Esos souvenirs si que son prácticos! Y el look de hoy casualmente es una colección de varios de ellos, os gusta?
I adore shopping special items when I travel. I'm not really into buying typical souvenirs that you never know where to place back home, but I love wandering in local bazaars and vintage flea markets, and finding small treasures that always land in the good part of my closet. Those really are useful souvenirs!

Matera es un lugar diferente. En el paleolítico se estableció como asentamiento, con casas-cueva escarvadas en la roca llamadas Sassi. Los romanos después fundaron la ciudad, que está construída en las paredes del cañón por el que pasa el río Gravina. La zona Sassi es de dificil accesso, pues son callejuelas empedradas, cuesta abajo y muy resbaladizas, pero en la zona alta y nueva hay varios miradores desde donde observar esta curiosa población, que ha sido utilizada como escenario en muchas películas, como la Pasión de Mel Gibson. Forma parte del Patrimonio de la UNESCO y tiene iglesias rupestres también dentro de la roca.
Matera is a unique place. It was settled during the Paleolithic, and then the Romans founded the city, with cave-houses dug into the rock walls of the Gravina river canyon. The Sassi area is not very accessible due to narrow slippery stone streets, but there's some scenic balconies on the upper and newer part of the city, from where you can see this curious town, used as a filming location in many movies, such as Mel Gibson's The Passion. It's part of UNESCO Heritage and has rupestrian churches also built in the rocks.

Ya sabéis que me encantan los mercados locales, pero Campo de' Fiori ha sido una gran decepción. De local tiene poco, pero es un buen reflejo de la globalización y el turisteo. En la pequeña plaza los vendedores indios reparten souvenirs en forma de pasta y especias a turistas japoneses y españoles, que también se llevan delantales estampados en China con el David de Miguel Ángel, todo bajo la mirada perpleja de Giordano Bruno (y la mía).
You know how much I love local markets, but Campo de' Fiori was quite disapointing. Instead of local it's a great example of globalization and mass tourism. At the small square Indian sellers distribute pasta and spices packed as souvenirs to japanese and spanish tourists, who also buy aprons printed in China with Michelangelo's David, everything under Giordano Bruno's (and mine) perplex eyes.

Gravina es un pequeño pueblo de Puglia, fundado por los griegos y luego conquistado por los romanos, aunque posteriormente otras tribus lo dominaron. La peculiaridad del municipio es que las casas que lo rodean y alguna iglesia están escavadas en la roca, pues en tiempos era un pueblo vertical. La catedral también es curiosa, sobre todo el coro y los murales de piedras incrustadas.
Gravina is a small town in Apulia, founded by the greeks and then conquered by the romans, but also ruled by many others. It's main characteristic are the houses and churches carved on the stone hill walls. The cathedral is also curious, specially the choir and the inlaid stones work.

Estuve en Roma por primera vez hace 10 años, de viaje de fin de curso. Creo que vi la ciudad con resaca, o igual es que ha pasado mucho tiempo, porque mi memoria tiene lagunas. En cualquier caso espero que, si veo estas fotos dentro de 10 años, el modelito que llevo no me horrorice tanto como mi vestuario de 2004 (menudas risas os ibais a echar como subiese esas fotos!) Las sandalias que llevo son de hace algún año más, con ellas me gradué de la ESO, me dieron mi primer beso y pasé noches enteras bailando sobre ellas... Aunque puede que recorrer Roma con unos tacones de 10cm no haya sido mi decisión más acertada del verano (nota mental: la próxima vez haz caso a tus sabios consejos sobre cómo hacer el Equipaje Perfecto)
I visited Rome for the first time 10 years ago, on a graduation trip. I think I had a hangover all over the city, or maybe it's been a long time and my memory is failing. Anyways, I hope when I look back at these pics 10 years from now I don't regret my outfit as much as I regret what I was wearing in 2004 (You'd ROTFL with those images!) The sandals are even older, I wore them to my school graduation, during my first kiss and I danced on them endless nights... but maybe roaming all over Rome on 10cm heels wasn't my wisest summer choice (mental note: next time follow your awesome advice on how to pack the Perfect Luggage)
