Las lavadoras aquí se ven poco, los dhobis van cada mañana a tu puerta, se llevan tu ropa sucia, la marcan con un número, y te la devuelven al día siguiente lavada y planchada (y con papel de periódico entre medias). Good morning! Today I'm showing you the dhobis work. Dhobis are the specialists washing clothes in India for particular houses and hotels, Washing machines are not very common here, so dhobis go to your door every morning, take your dirty clothes, mark it with a number, and return it the day after washed and ironed (and with newspaper pages in between). And this is how they do it...

Tras el Fuerte de Daman, hoy os enseño otro, esta vez el de Pune. Shaniwar Wada es un palacio fortaleza del siglo dieciocho construido por el Imperio Maratha, que gobernó la zona hasta que fueron derrotados por los británicos. El palacio fue destruido en un incendio, pero la estructura y el fuerte siguen en pie en el centro de Pune. Pasad una feliz semana!

After Daman Fort, today I'm showing you another one, this time in Pune. Shaniwar Wada is a palace/fort built in the 18th century by the Maratha Empire, which ruled the area until the time when British occupied it. The palace was destroyed in a fire, but the structure and the fort stand still in Pune city centre. Have a good week!

Después de enseñaros la playa de Daman, hoy os enseño la otra cara: el fuerte. Daman fue una colonia portuguesa, y dentro del fuerte del siglo XVI se encuentran los edificios oficiales de la ciudad.

After Daman beach I wanna show you the other side of the city: the fort. Daman was a Portuguese colony, and inside the 16th century fort you can find the government offices.  

Las puestas de sol en la playa son otra de mis cosas favoritas. Esta concurrida playa está en Daman, y es otro de esos lugares perfectos para escapar de Mumbai un par de días. Feliz fin de semana!

Sunsets on the beach are one of my favorite things. This busy beach is in Daman, and is a lovely place to spend a couple of days near Mumbai. Happy weekend!

Nashik es una de las ciudades sagradas de la India, con una ajetreada vida en torno al río y a los templos. Os podría contar muchísimas cosas, pero prefiero compartir algunas imágenes y que cada uno se haga una idea del lugar. Felíz semana!

Nashik is one of the holy cities in India, and is specially busy by the river end the temples. I could tell you a lot about its story, but I rather share some images so you can picture this colorful place. Have a great week!

Hace un par de semanas fuimos a Nashik a pasar unos días. A las afueras se encuentran los primeros viñedos indios de sauvignon blanc, una idea de Sula, la bodega que ha popularizado el vino en la India. Pasamos la tarde en los viñedos, luego nos enseñaron todo el proceso de producción y finalmente hicimos una cata, probando blancos, rosados, tintos y espumosos. La cena a base de quesos y vino en la terraza con vistas a los viñedos es el plan perfecto para escapar al caos de Mumbai!

A couple of weeks back we went to Nashik for a few days. On the outskirts you can find the first indian sauvignon blanc vineyards, a project by Sula, the winery that has popularized wine in India. We spent the afternoon at the vineyards, then they introduced us to the whole production process, and finally we went to the tasting room to have different white, rose, red and sparkling wines. Cheese and wine on the terrace facing the vineyards is the perfect break from Mumbai rush!

En el post anterior os enseñé las flores, y hoy tocan las luces! Ayer celebramos Diwali, con fuegos artificiales, lamparitas de aceite, dulces, petardos y muchas, muchas luces! Feliz semana!

Una de las cosas que más me gustan de la India son las flores. Están por todas partes, tienen precios razonables y no faltan en ninguna ocasión especial. Y si hay una flor típica aquí es el tagete, en naranja y amarillo, las usan para hacer ofrendas, decorar coches, motos, puertas, guirnaldas... Os dejo con algunas imágenes de los tagetes durante el festival de Navratri, feliz finde!

One of my favorite things in India are flowers. They're everywhere, affordable and present on every special occasion. The most typical one are marigolds, in orange and yellow, and they use them in pujas, cars, bikes, door decorations, garlands... Good morning! I celebrated Karwachauth festival on tuesday, and so far is the most beautiful festival I've seen in India. I couldn't take many pics cause I kept carrying stuff in my hands the whole night, but I wanna share it with you and explain a little to my non indian readers.

Buenos días! Hoy nos vamos de turisteo por Mumbai, os quiero enseñar dos grandes edificios de la ciudad. Primero el Museo Prince of Wales, que se encuentra dentro de un precioso edificio de estilo Indi-Saracénico con una gran cúpula. Y después el Tribunal Supremo, de estilo neogótico y presidiendo la gran explanada oval. No dejan entrar con cámaras, pero es un espectáculo ver el ambiente, los abogados con sus togas negras con prisas por los pasillos, la tensión de los que esperan sentencia, las caras de aburrimiento de los jueces... y todo recuerda un poco a Hogwarts!

Good morning! Today we're sightseeing Mumbai, I'm gonna show you two great buildings in this city. First the Prince of Wales Museum, inside a beautiful Indo-Saracenic building with a great dome. And then the High Court, a Neo-gothic building by the Oval Maidan. They don't allow cameras inside, but the ambience is worth the visit, lawyers in their black robes, tense people waiting on the benches for their sentence, poker-face judges... it all reminded me of Hogwarts!

Ya llevo un mes en Mumbai, con otro ritmo de vida. Habréis notado que actualizo con menos frecuencia y que apenas tengo tiempo de visitar vuestros blogs, aunque lo hago siempre que puedo. Ya llevo un par de semanas en la India, así que os iré enseñando cositas de mi vida por aquí. Hoy quiero empezar con las imágenes del festival de Ganesh, el dios hindú con cabeza de elefante (del que ya os hablé hace unos años AQUÍ). Los indios mantienen figuras de Ganesh durante 10 días en sus casas, adorándolo día y noche, y el último día, fecha del nacimiento, lo llevan en procesión hasta el mar y lo hunden para que vuelva a nacer, conmemorando así su cumpleaños. Yo lo he vivido en Mumbai, donde se calcula que unas 200.000 figuras de todos los tamaños se han sumergido este año. La playa de Chowpatty a la mañana siguiente era un poema.

El tema elegido para el Share-IN-Style de esta semana no podía gustarme más! La tendencia japonesa es una de las grandes propuestas para este otoño, con las prendas de corte kimono como favoritas. Además de kimonos y batas, los looks pijama siguen llevándose esta temporada, y los estampados orientales florecen en nuestros armarios. Yo aprovecho el tema para enseñaros cómo combinar una de las batas de seda de mi colección METAMORPHOSIS a modo de kimono en un look de calle. I couldn't be any happier with this week Share-IN-Style theme! Japanese inspiration is one of the greatest trends this autumn, with kimono patterns being a must. Apart from kimonos and robes, pyjama looks are also a hit, and asian prints are flowering in our closets. So today I wanna show you how to wear one of the silk robes from my METAMORPHOSIS collection as a kimono in a street style. What are your thoughts on this trend?

Hoy por fin os presento mi tercera colección y una nueva aventura. Sugar Lane Metamorphosis es una colección artesanal de piezas únicas fruto de la transformación de saris de la India en elegantes batas de seda. 

Cada sari perteneció a una mujer India y por tanto tiene su propia historia: uno lo llevó una chica en la boda de su hermano mayor, otro fue un regalo de cumpleaños de una madre a su hija, alguno se lo regaló un recién casado a su esposa para una cena romántica durante el viaje de novios… y después de un tiempo yo seleccioné esos saris, me los traje a España y los transformé en una bata de seda para ti.

No quería que acabase el verano sin dedicar un post a los básicos de verano. No son tendencia, pero  qué haríamos sin ellos??? Así que hoy os enseño un look de lo mas normal, con el accesorio que mas me he puesto este verano: el collar de piedras de colores!

El de hoy me parece perfecto para el verano, sobre todo por el color, que combina de maravilla con el mar y el entorno. El cuerpo sin mangas y con la espalda escotada es fresco para las noches de agosto, y la falda en tul es de princesa total. Los accesorios y labios rojos son un atrevimiento que contrasta con el azul noche, qué os parece?

Today's dress is perfect for the summer, specially thanks to its color, which matches with the sea and the location wonderfully. The sleeveless and open back top is fresh enough for August nights, and the tul skirt gives the princess touch. Accessories and lips in red are a bold touch in contrast with the royal blue, how do you like it?
